Kia ora and welcome to Feed Nutrition!

I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to take a moment to introduce myself, and give you an idea of what to expect from Feed Nutrition.

My Foodie Journey

Growing up, I always had an obsessive interest in food. I used to pull all my foods apart, so that I could taste each part separately (she’s going to be a surgeon!). My parents instilled in me the value of good food, above anything else. We lived in our own little clearing on the top of a mountain ridge, surrounded by 50 acres of forest. It was such a magical spot to grow up in, the perfect place to run free and explore.

We always had fresh veggies in the garden, and my Dad was a keen fisherman. This really formed the basis of what went in my mouth as a kid.

This garden was established before we even started building our house! We lived in a caravan, with 1 gas hob - but hey, we had fresh veggies!!

As I grew older, I became more and more fascinated not only by the food on my plate, but how it got there! My primary interests became animal welfare and sustainability. Learning more about this, I decided to take the plunge into a plant based eating pattern.

Having restricted my foods so much I became acutely aware of the importance of understanding the nutritional value of the foods that were going in my mouth. Suddenly I was having to think about protein, iron, B12 and omega 3s.

I’d never really thought about specific nutrients before, so this was quite a shock to the system, but as an avid scientist, learning how the body uses these components became a bit of a hobby.

This hobby transcended from an interest to career, when I decided to pursue nutrition at the University of Auckland. I spent the next 5 years learning all about nutrition, physiology, pathophysiology, public health and how these disciplines are interwoven.

Fast forward to now, and I’ve just graduated with my Masters of Health Science, Majoring in Nutrition and Dietetics, the culmination of 5 years of dedicated study on nutrition and the writing of my first book (AKA, my thesis).

I found my calling in Dietetics, which has combined all of my major interests – helping people, learning, sharing new knowledge and making delicious food!

For the last little while, I’ve been working at My Food Bag (definitely the best place to work as a foodie!) managing the Fresh Start Experts channel, which provides expert advice to help customers reach their health and wellness goals.

My ultimate dream though has always been to set up my own practice, a place where I can help people to live healthier lives, and give their bodies some love. Finishing my studies provided the perfect opportunity to make this dream a reality, and so Feed Nutrition was born!

Feed Nutrition is here to provide evidence based (honest) nutrition advice to simplify healthy living. I’m so excited to share my passion, and provide tools to help improve your health!

If you’d like to be a part of shaping Feed Nutrition and have any suggestions / requests on what you would like to see more of, just drop me a line here!
